Dr. Bethany McKinney Fox, Director of Spiritual Formation
Bethany loves to practice a ministry of presence with a diversity of people. This works itself out in various ways in her life. Along with being the Director of Spiritual Formation with CLA, she is also the founding pastor of Beloved Everybody Church, a community collaboratively formed and led by people with and without intellectual disabilities. She also directs Fuller Seminary's Access Services Office working on access for students with disabilities and broader campus culture around disability issues. She is also an adjunct professor of Christian Ethics. Bethany earned her PhD in Christian Ethics from Fuller, MDiv from Columbia Theological Seminary, and BA in Philosophy from UCLA (with a minor in Russian Lit). She has a book coming out in Spring of 2019: Disability and the Way of Jesus: Holistic Healing in the Gospels and the Church, with IVP Academic, about how the Gospel healing narratives can constructively guide church communities to be true places of healing in the way of Jesus, particularly for people with disabilities. She is married to Michael, a violinist/fiddler, and they live in Los Angeles.
Brianna Kinsman, Assistant to the Director
Brianna is a liturgist, actress, and published writer. In 2017, she graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with an M.A. in Theology and an emphasis in Theology and the Arts. Her training in theatre, music, writing, and theology inspires Brianna to craft stories, spaces, and projects that foster the collective imagination of a community. Brianna has worked as a worship assistant on the Fuller Chapel team, where she created worship experiences that blend multicultural faith with narrative expression and spiritual formation. In 2016, she became a member of the Fujimura Fellows, a group committed to providing care and friendship to local artist communities. One of Brianna’s current projects is directing Illumine Playback Theatre, an improv group that explores the connectivity between the liturgical and the theatrical through story, play, and movement. In the future, she hopes to continue bringing art, culture, and theology into conversation through storytelling.
Brianna currently resides in Pasadena with her husband, Michael, who pastors at La Cañada Congregational Church. Together, they enjoy eating their way around the incredible Los Angeles food scene.
